Known as the Festival du Film Policier de Cognac, this competitive festival recognizes the best in international suspense films.

Held in France's picturesque southwestern region, it was founded by Claude Chabrol some fifteen years ago.

Known for the spirit which bears its name, the historic town of Cognac plays host to the annual international four-day festival.

This year's jury Chairman is director and producer, Roland Joffé. His most recent work includes : Good Bye Lover with Patricia Arquette and Marie-Louise Parker ; The Scarlett Letter (1996) with Demi Moore and Gary Oldman, and the City of Joy, with Patrick Swayze. This year's jury includes :
Marushka Detmers, Andrea Ferréol, Maria Schneider, Jon Amiel, Sergio Gobbi, Curtis Hanson, Henri Verneuil, Régis Wargnier.

With a well-earned reputation for showcasing the best in Passion, Frissons, Soupçons (passion, shivers, suspicions) the festival has become a competition heaven for full and short feature thrillers s well as TV suspens films from all over the world.
